Here we bring you line drawings, paintings, and ideas to use relating to prayer. Creating images of Jesus and stories of his ministry—by yourself or with others—can itself be a form of prayer, a way of talking and listening to the Lord, as you concentrate on colors, shapes, and textures, abandoning thoughts of self and focusing on Christ and the devotional images. In addition, please consider our art workshop called The Lord’s Prayer. In it, students grow in communication with and love of God as they examine in detail the prayer Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6. Going phrase by phrase of the prayer, they reflect on and discuss each part. Students then choose aspects of the prayer to draw and/or paint individually, coordinating with one another, so that together the class is able to illustrate the whole prayer.
